Ok, ive searched for liek the past 30 min.... IVe found exhaust sound clips, exhaust for pre 98's and other crap..

Im looking for a good sounding exhaust for my 06.....It only has 1600 miles on her but im wanting to throw an exhaust on it to be louder..

Where should i order from? What brands sound the nicest? Im looking for something moderatly loud....I have flowmaster dual exhaust on my truck because i like low sounding exhaust...

Thanks
Rocky

I personally like the Hindle, its what I have on my bike. Sounds great, but not to loud.

Hindle is the way to go!!!!!! But if you want something loud, then you should check out D&D pipes.

D & D is the loudest. Just make sure you hear one before you get it.

How "loud" is the hindle? Ive never heard of that brand. Im getting ready to check that webcite out, is it a trustworthy webcite to order from?

I dont want something extremely loud, i just want something louder than stock.....

Ive heard the yoshi on a 04 katana and it sounded ok....

If you don't want loud and rude, don't get the D & D. I love mine but you have to like that sound and tone as doc1935 said

the only ones on that webcite are

D&D
Leo Vince
M4
Remus
Scorpion
Two Brothers (Bros)

What one should i be looking at for a moderately loud exhaust......not insanly loud but decent.....

Seem to be decently priced....i forget from looking at mine how it will instal, the "slip ons" do they just "slip on" and mount to the frame? or are there exhaust clamps

They literally just slip on and take about 10 minutes. Right underneath your kat where your stock one connects, you disconnect and slip in your new one and tighten.

Go for the two brothers!!! (shameless plug)

It's what I have on my 06 600, and I think it's perfect, but then again why wouldn't I, it's my bike

I'm not sure if you have heard gr8hntr's yet, but mine sounds the same...

All I can say is the Hindle sounds bad@$$.

I use the OEM 750 headers and exhaust on my late model kat 600. Produces slightly more sound (more so from an increase in intake roar than exhaust output sound).

That said, having stood around at the '04 rally when lots of pipes were compared live, I have to say the Hindle sounds the very best of any exhaust I've heard on the Kats. Pleasantly deep exhaust tone, without the annoying over-loud ear-splitting head-ache inducing sound of a D&D, and no raspy high-tones in the sound. For pure love-of-sound, it's the one I would recommend.

store.58cycle.com try these guys I've ordered form them before and they have some pretty good deals on kat stuff including exhausts. At the time they had the cheapest d&d prices.

I've got the Scorpion Oval slip-on and it's the got the perfect sound I wanted. Personally for me anything louder would have been too loud. I suggest the use of ear plugs when riding for any aftermarket exhaust. That's a tip I picked up from CP.

I don't have mine on yet, but have heard others, and I like the sound of the scorpion myself. I am getting mine in the next month or so.

I've got an 06 Kat 600. I installed the D&D slip on. Loud? Yes. Obnoxious? No. I've had several people say it sounds sweet. Sounds great at around 10k's!!!!

Just remember to repack that exhaust every other year to keep it sounding reasonable... as the glass fibers in the can breakdown, they settle to the low end, and finally break up enough to fall through the holes and be blown out the back. Without those fibers in place, it sounds infinitely worse.

The OEM Suzuki cans use metal baffles and engineered sound-reverb to get around this and don't use any form of batting to kill sound. Scorpion also claims their cans don't need any repacking for street use either (ever), but I am skeptical about this.

Makes sense. How you go about repacking the D&D can? Mines black carbon.

The CyberPoet

You drill out the rivets at the ends of the can, pop off the ends, open up the middle, remove the old stuff, stick in the new stuff, and reassemble/rerivet.

There's a good how-to link on KR somewhere that will take you CycleWorld's (or some other publication's) website where the process is listed step-by-step with pics.

Just got this posted on youtube, thot y'all might like to see this. My son was home on leave from Iraq. Jack is 22 but doesn't have any riding experience. He wanted to film his dad (me) doing a burnout to show his buddies back in Iraq. Plus you get to hear how the D&D can sounds at approx. 8k's. Enjoy. :clap

My local dealer recommended the D&D for me. You can also go to the various exhaust web sites. They usually have an index of what bikes their exhaust will fit.
