Take them off, clean the mating surfaces with rubbing alcohol, brake cleaner, carb cleaner or a spray electronics cleaner and allow to dry completely. Then reattach the grips and use your super glue or grip glue. My guess is that there was oil or other contaminants keeping the glue from gripping well.

          Hair Spray ???

          Try some cheap hair spray!
Spray the handle bar (clip-on) and while it is still wet slide the grip onto the bar, Should dry in a couple minutes.

I used this on my old RF900 and it held well for two years.

          Hope this helps

Tried it , didn't work . I just stuck a whole 'nother clip-on on there with the stock grip still on anyway .
