  • Difference between pre-98 and 98+ front wheels?

So what's the difference in sizes between them? And how does it affect tire size?

    thanks,
    bama

I believe for the front its 1/2 inch. the pre has a 3" wheel and the post has 3 1/2". for the rear the pre has 3 1/2" and the post has 4 1/2".

as to tire affect, you can run a wider tire on the wider rims. wider = more contact patch.

I thought I had read that about the 3" to 3.5" before, but couldn't remember. What does that do in terms of tire size? I know the 98+ run 120's in the front, do the pre's as well?

bama I have ran a 120/60/17 on my pre 98 front rim and a 160/60/17 on my rear rim. It causes pinching of the tire so people say. I rode mine with no problems at. So one will chime in here and tell me I shouldn't be running that tire combo. Anyway you can run a 120/70 on pre98 front.
