what size is front sprocket nut (98+)?

Anyone know what size the front sprocket nut is on a 2000 Kat? I'm changing chain and sprockets this fall (10,000 miles on the stock stuff), and will rent an impact wrench for the task, but need to know what size socket to get with it. I noted in another thread a reference to it maybe being 24mm, but they weren't sure, so I figured I'd ask.
BTW, chain and sprocket set from BikeBandit was a good deal (stock sprocket sizes in steel w/ a DID x-ring chain for $166.

I'm 99% sure it is 32mm.

1-1/4" . Dunno if that's the same as 32mm , but that's what I used and it fit perfectly .

I've always used this method:

PUT RIGHT FOOT ON REAR BRAKE and LEFT foot on breaker bar/ratchet handle to break loose. I also put bike in gear. Helps to have a helper.........

ALSO: Don't use an impact wrench to put the nut back on - use a torque wrench!

since you know these motor inside & out - is there a problem leaving it in
gear ? i've always just put it in neutral so that i don't put any force
on the tranny.
