  • Adjusting Chain Tension

I'm still hunting for a manual for my 2001 Katana 600. Meanwhile....does anyone have the instructions for adjusting chain tension? I've measured mine and it's a little loose (or maybe, according to a recent thread, just adjusted for racing ).

    Thanks!

I know you need a tourqe wrench, because the bolts have to be set to a specific pound/foot. If you could get that, tahts all you would really need. Loosen the bolts, slide'r back a bit, and tighten. From my understanding, you can't really go by the marks on the swingarm though. Good Luck!

The process goes something like this:
      CLICK

For the 98+ Kat the slack is .8 to 1.2" with the bike on the centerstand.
Axle should be tightened 47 ft./lbs.

Man, you guys just reminded me that I have to clean and wax mine again. Dang it, I thought I was done for awhile. If it's done right the first couple of times and kept lubricated, you wn't have to adjust it very often!!
