Always best to do the easy stuff first, synch it and see what it does, if it still has a problem, time to clean. Oh, and welcome to KR.

well they need to be something. usually when carbs are out of synch, they don't "smooth out". to do that, they would have to jump back in synch. in synch...isn't that a gay boy band or something?

anyway, my philosophy....if you have to ask if your carbs should be cleaned, then it is time to clean them. so start with that....and do the synch while your at it.

make sure you have the right plugs as well. if your never changed them, and the previous owner did, and did not put the right ones in (just cuz they fit and work don't make them right), it can act kinda funky. one of my kats did that. I knew it wasn't my carbs just by the fact that it ran better when warmed up. usually when it's like that....running great after warmed up, it's not a gas problem. mine was the plugs. the po had the wrong plugs in. I put the right ones and and it woke the bike right up.

anyway....could be gas, could be fire. so do both. hard saying cuz you are a new guy and I (we) don't have a clue about the bike's maintenance history. carbs need to be cleaned from time to time, and plugs should be taken out and cleaned/gapped, as well, if not replaced.

we have sections for these things. do a search for carbs 101 or something like that if you need help in doing it. there is enough info on here (if you use the search thingy) to walk you through a complete tune-up. and if you get stuck, you can ask in the section dedicated to this kind of stuff. this section...well, it's more "tomfoolery".

welcome to the site, noob...and remember, the search function is your friend :bigthumb

thank you for the tips as for the mantinance history i have no clue. the previous owner has really did a number on this bike so i have to go through and fix what he did. he spray painted the tank military green and replaced the front fairing with a metal one that dosent look good at all. so i have to go and rebuild this bike from the bottom up.

Looks like you got something to work on, all right! Looks like someone thought it'd be a good go-fast junk hauler or pizza delivery vehicle. Welcome!
